OK I thought I was healthy. They say red wine is good for you-in moderation. So, one with dinner and a couple more over the next few hours before bed seemed totally cool with me. Hell. I enjoyed it. What could be wrong? Well once I started the 21 day sugar detox I learned just how wrong I was...
Wine is FULL of SUGAR!! Sugar is why I'm jigglin baby!
That is NO BUENO!
But the more I thought about it, the more I realized how big the lifestyle change would be. I'm a singer. I travel. I have friends in every city. I have no day job and no routine. I spend 30 percent of my life in airports, and the rest of my life is spent "catchin' up with old friends" over drinks...
YIKES! No wonder I have gained 40 pounds since I started touring professionally in 2006!
I eat tons of veggies. Love em. thank gawd. But I also love my wine...which after i have had one with dinner and a couple more before bed, I'm hungry for naughty things right before bed. Especially if I'm sleeping alone (one of the reasons I hate being single) I'll let a big bowl of popcorn covered in ghee and spices wrap its loving arms around me and cuddle me to sleep.
ALSO NO BUENO!
So when I decided to finally begin this journey, I had a lot of adjusting to do....
Today is day 32. I have lost 10 pounds, and probably gained some in muscle. My clothes are fitting better and I'm feeling sexy-at least much sexier than before. But I still have a long way to go. I was posting all my meals on social media and folks asked me for a blog. So I'm beginning today. If you're gonna journey with me, the best advice I can give is stay strong TODAY. Only today. Get through today. If you feel a craving, drink a glass of water and wait 5 minutes. We are working on just learning what our habits are. And unlearning our habits. And then learning new ones. Be an observer. Be a loving, non-judgemental observer. Remember none of this is permanent. Start with the sugar detox. It's only 21 days! You can do anything for 21 days...at least thats what my girlfriend and body hero Liza Colby told me (check out that BODY!!!) And she was right. after my first 21 days, I was ready to rock the next cleanse...which I will share about soon.
Thanks for reading. I will be sharing much more about this journey as the days roll by. Stay tuned.
